Negros, the island of infinite sugar fields, is divided into two provinces, Oriental and Occidental. Bordering the two is the geographic and cultural heart of the island – majestic Mt. Kanlaon. Yet Kanlaon is more identifiedas part of the west, being its main landmark just as Bacolod is its chief city. For its part, the East has Dumaguete, and its mountain is Mt.Talinis.
